For the first time since 1997, the Detroit Red Wings will not hold training camp in Traverse City for the 2026-27 preseason, instead moving operations to Little Caesars Arena and the Belfor Training Center from September 17-20. The club's rookie tournament is returning after a one-year absence, featuring a four-team event with the Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, and Pittsburgh Penguins from September 12-15 at the same facilities. The Red Wings' preseason schedule has been reduced to four games, with their exhibition slate opening September 21 against Columbus at Nationwide Arena and continuing September 22 against Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena.
