The Dynasties

The Production Line Dynasty

1949-50 to 1954-55
🏆 1950🏆 1952🏆 1954🏆 1955

Detroit finished first in the regular season six straight seasons and won four Stanley Cups. In 1949-50 the Production Line of Lindsay, Abel and Howe finished one-two-three in league scoring, and Howe went on to win four consecutive scoring titles. Terry Sawchuk anchored the net while Red Kelly and Marcel Pronovost ran the blue line, with Tommy Ivan coaching and Jack Adams as GM.

The Modern Dynasty

1995-96 to 2008
🏆 1997🏆 1998🏆 2002🏆 2008

After a 42-year Cup drought, Detroit built a juggernaut around captain Steve Yzerman and a wave of stars. Back-to-back Cups in 1997 and 1998 were powered by the Russian Five and Yzerman's leadership; the 2002 team dressed roughly ten future Hall of Famers; and the 2008 Cup, led by Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg, capped the run. Scotty Bowman coached three of the four titles.
