RELEASE: Oilers name Mike Babcock as Head Coach

The Edmonton Oilers named Mike Babcock as the club's 19th head coach in franchise history on June 23, 2026. Babcock, 63, holds a 700-418-183 regular-season coaching record over 17 NHL seasons and previously won a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings in 2008. He is the only coach in hockey history to have won a Stanley Cup, Olympic gold medal, IIHF World Championship, and World Cup of Hockey title.
