Detroit's Ilitch Companies invests in PWHL as league comes to the city

The Professional Women's Hockey League announced Monday that Ilitch Companies and Canadian-based Kilmer Sports Ventures have become the league's first outside investors, joining original backers Mark and Kimbra Walter. Ilitch Companies, which owns the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers and operates Little Caesars Arena, will have Detroit's PWHL team play at the arena. Chris Ilitch, CEO of Ilitch Companies, stated the investment represents an opportunity to expand the game's reach and create pathways for athletes.
