57 points in 67 games and basically a point per game after the Olympic break. When Larkin's knee went down in March, who picked the team up? Showtime. 37 years old or whatever he is and he's the steadiest hand in the lineup when it mattered. We talk about Cat and Ray and Seider all year, fine, but Kane was the glue holding the offense together during the worst stretch. Re-sign the man.

Mutual interest has been reported and a one-year again makes sense for both sides. The catch is Yzerman flat-out said he can't sign all the UFAs. Kane, Perron, JVR, Talbot, Gostisbehere all pending. Something has to give. The Kane bet is the easiest yes of that group on a short term, frankly.

love relying on a guy in his late 30s as your stretch-run savior. that's a sign of a healthy contender for sure.
