I think some of you are getting ahead of yourselves - Kane's projected contract hasn't changed significantly since his injury, so I don't see a drastic AAV adjustment coming unless he suffers another setback. His expected goals rate per 60 minutes with the Hawks is still a strong indicator that he'll be a top-six forward; if anything, we might expect a slight bump in his AAV due to the market for wingers like him.
Kane's Return Unresolved on July 1
Still wondering if I'll need to update my projections for Kane's next contract this offseason... If he does come back, what kind of AAV are we looking at?
I think fenwickfan is being cautious and reasonable with her take on Kane's contract - his expected goals rate is still a strong indicator of his value. A slight bump in AAV might be due, but I'm not so sure about that; the market for wingers has been pretty flat lately, imho.
I agree with becca_w's caution regarding a bump in AAV - the market for wingers has been sluggish and Kane's injury history is certainly a factor to consider. fenwickfan makes a solid point about Kane's expected goals rate, but I still think there's room for his projected contract to decrease slightly given the uncertainty surrounding his health.
