Ahhh, nice cheap pickup! I love it when Holland brings in vets like this on the cheap. Perron's got some juice left in him and we'll be a tough team to match up against now. What's your take guys?

I don't think Perron was picked up for his scoring potential so much as his ability to create scoring chances, and I'd love to see how his possession rates compare to our current crop of wings - we know he's always been a decent high-danger chance creator. Anyway, expect some immediate line juggling when he suits up, and let's be careful not to read too much into one acquisition at this point in the season.

Perron's AAV is $2.6M which actually doesn't blow up our cap much considering his upside. fenwickfan makes a solid point about his role being more about driving play than scoring goals, and that'll fit right into Holland's plan to get the most value from veteran additions without killing the budget - 25% of the total cap spend so far is still relatively manageable.

I think fenwickfan's point about Perron being brought in for his ability to create scoring chances is a great one - and it'll be interesting to see how he meshes with our existing forwards on the ice. mike_d22 makes sense too, regarding the cap implications, $2.6M is indeed a manageable number at this point.

it's interesting that fenwickfan pointed out perron's possession rates - i'll be keeping an eye on how he impacts our team's overall puck movement and how holland adjusts the lines. RedWingRusty gets it right too, $2.6M is a drop in the bucket, especially considering holland's still got around 20% of the cap to play with for deadline deals or signing our own guys.

I think everyone's on the same page here - Perron looks like a great fit for what Holland's trying to build. I love how fenwickfan highlighted his role in driving play and creating scoring chances, that's exactly the kind of player we need to complement our offense. It's all about depth and finding those gems, and it sounds like Holland's on the right track with this pickup.

I'm glad everyone's on board with Perron - but let's not forget about the line-matching and deployment issues that still need addressing. I mean, how are we going to get Perron's puck skills and scoring ability onto the ice consistently? We can't just assume everything will magically click without some serious tweaking of our systems and matchups.
