This is the part casual fans miss. Soderblom -> 3rd -> into the Faulk package. The asset didn't disappear, it got repackaged. Tidy bit of GMing honestly, even if you hate giving up the first.
Soderblom to Pittsburgh (and the third basically funded the Faulk deal)
Quieter move that got buried by the bigger ones: Elmer Soderblom traded to Pittsburgh for a 2026 third. And here's the fun part, that's the same third Detroit then flipped to St. Louis in the Faulk trade. So functionally they turned Soderblom into part of the Faulk package. Roster churn that actually connects. Always liked Elmer's size and hands around the net, but the lineup math wasn't working for him here.
big elmer was such a fun watch when he got rolling. 6 foot 8 net front guy is the kind of thing this team always needs and never keeps lol. good luck in pitt big man
as a beer leaguer i will say there is no replacing a genuinely huge dude who just parks in front and tips pucks. you can't teach 6'8. we'll miss that more than the box score says.
