The kids are getting their first NHL looks (Finnie, Danielson, MBN, Sandin-Pellikka)

Worth taking a beat to appreciate this. We have a real wave of prospect debuts happening this season. Emmitt Finnie, Nate Danielson, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Axel Sandin-Pellikka have all gotten their first NHL looks in 2025-26. Not every one of them sticks right away and that is fine, that is how development works. But seeing four pipeline names in NHL sweaters in one year is a good sign the farm is actually producing. Who has impressed you most in their cameo so far?

Brandsegg-Nygard is the one I keep coming back to. Heavy, plays the right way, wins his battles down low. He is not flashy but you can see the pro frame already. The kind of player who looks better the longer you watch.

ASP running a power play unit as a rookie tells you everything about the hands. The defensive reads will come. The offensive instincts are already NHL level.

Just remember none of these guys is a finished product and we should not write the book on any of them off 15 or 20 games. We did it with Kasper and look how that conversation went. Patience.

Finnie is the sleeper of the group for me. Late round value, motor never stops, projects as a useful middle six guy with PK upside. Floor is high even if the ceiling is a third liner.

i will get excited when one of them actually sticks for a full year. seen too many december cups of coffee turn into march bus rides back to GR.

Fair Doug, and honestly that is the realistic framing. A debut is a checkpoint, not a graduation. But four checkpoints in one season is still more than we have had in a while.

These are good problems to have, kids. When I was younger we waited years between prospects you actually wanted to watch. Let them cook. The ones who are meant to stay will tell you.
