But I'd be lying if I said April 12 didn't sting more than usual. 92 points felt like the year we'd finally sneak in, and instead we faded right at the line. Still bought in, and here's why I'm not panicking. Seider 60 points and a Norris conversation, DeBrincat 85, Raymond near a point per game with a real two-way leap, Edvinsson turning into a genuine shutdown guy at his age. That's a core. The plan was never 'tank forever.' It was build a spine of homegrown and traded-for talent and then add. We're at the add stage. My deadline is honestly next April. THIS is the year it has to convert.

Mo played all 82 again and put up 60. 10 and 50. He carried the heaviest minutes against the other team's best line every single night. If you want one reason to stay bought in, it's that the best defenseman on the roster is 24 and still getting better. You don't blow that up.

For the record on the framing: 241 GF, 258 GA. A team that gets outscored on the season finishing 6th in the Atlantic and 10th in the East is roughly where the underlying numbers said it'd be. The fade wasn't a fluke collapse, it was a slightly-below-water team regressing once the injuries hit. The fix isn't a new pep talk, it's two more legit top-six caliber bodies and a goalie tandem you trust. Solvable. Not done by itself.
